First Look: Yayoi Kusama for Louis Vuitton

With a buzzy retrospective at Tate Modern wrapping up and another one opening at the Whitney, artist Yayoi Kusama's timely collaboration with Louis Vuitton is spot-on. Two days before the Whitney Museum debuts its long-awaited exhibit, Louis Vuitton will unveil a limited-edition line of clothes and accessories featuring trench coats, dresses, handbags, chaussures, silk PJs, and jewelry splashed with Kusama's signature dots. The whimsical line will bow in 461 Vuitton stores on July 10, but will be produced in limited quantities to preserve its collection status. A second shipment is expected in October with a mélange of monogrammed leather goods patterned with the artists linear "nerves" motif. Louis Vuitton will hype up the partnership next month with the debut of a free iPhone app in English and Japanese. Kusama devotees can snap photos, mix in a range of Kusama motifs onto the image, and submit to LouisVuittonKusama.com.

Yet Another Carine Project: Cannes Fashion Show at amfAR Ball

The LBD is sweeping Cannes this year, courtesy of Carine Roitfeld & co. This year's big amfAR bash at Hotel du Cap on May 24 during the film fest will feature a spate of 20 noir frocks designed by the likes of Dior, Givenchy, Christopher Kane, Chanel, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton and Versace. Après-show, one lucky bidder will score the entire lot of looks.
