Aspiring fashion shutterbugs looking for a maje break, listen up: Bottega Veneta is partnering with Red Digital Cinema for "New Exposure, A Fashion Photography Contest" to find the next Demarcheliers, Leibowitzes, and Testinos among us. The panel of judges includes Vogue photography director, Ivan Shaw, Bottega Veneta's creative director, Tomas Maier, artists like Ross Bleckner and Jack Pierson, and more. Program collaborators include the International Center for Photography (ICP), MILK, and AIDS Community Research Initiative of America (ACRIA). The big win? A plum prize worth $50K, including $10,000, a camera package from RED Epic-X, a shot at shooting a Bottega Veneta project, a year of mentorship from Management Artists photo agency, plus a chance to showcase their chicest shots in New York. While a troupe of glitterati continued to celebrate in Cannes, an haute list of notables kept things lively on the home front during the Upfronts Wardrobe Studio event last week, which introduced TV celebs to fashion brands at the buzziest outpost in the Garment District, Caravan Stylist Studio. The full-serve hair, makeup, and wardrobe space featuring 50-plus designers on rack including Twinkle by Wenlan, Band of Gypsies, I Heart Ronson, Nicole by Nicole Miller, and more has one simple goal: to promote talent with talent for no cost. But this isn't your typical grab bag showroom housing a random assortment of freebies. Instead, actors, musicians, bloggers, and editors are invited to the innovative retail concept for a carefully curated selection of goodies that just happen to be on the house. (Not a bad deal!) Creator Claudine DeSola, who's worked with top companies like Levi's, Converse, and Anthropologie, established Caravan in 2005 to expand fashion's reach and support the New York garment district by urging designers and their clients to go local.
