    This is the kind of handbag that suits any occasion or situation. It doesn't make a strong style statement, but there's an elegant quietness about it that's really attractive. It might not turn as many heads as a more trend-focused accessory, but it will find a place in your wardrobe as fads come and go.

    If you dismiss it as boring you'll miss its beautiful details. It's an old soul, but the triangular stitching around the straps makes it feel a bit more modern. The gleaming brass studs are also a gorgeous complement to the conservative brown leather. While the color is sedate its gentle glaze makes it much more compelling.

    The Raphael is spacious but it stops short of being unwieldy. That's largely due to the unique design, which has not one but two compartments. Why not use one for the office and the other for fun after hours? The rolled handles are likely to slip from your shoulder, but at least they're long enough for easy carrying.

    I haven't always been Sara Berman's biggest fan but she's gotten it right with the Raphael. At $653 it's a bit more expensive than her other bags, but it's also better than most.

    Blues by KyKy Launches in America | Venezuelan Bags Arrive in USA

    Blues by KyKy ToteAfter building its business for more than two decades in South America, Blues by KyKy is introducing its handbags to fashionistas in the United States.

    American audiences have embraced tribal styles in recent seasons, so it seems like the perfect time for the Venezuelan handbag to make a splash. Its co-founder, designer, and creative director Yliana Yepez has also relocated to New York, so she knows what the modern American market is looking for.

    With her new knowledge of the Big Apple, Yepez has adapted the bags to include functional features like long straps.

    "Back home we always drive but New Yorkers walk everywhere, so the bags need to be functional to grab and go and to fit over a coat," she explained.

    The Blues by KyKy collection features tote bags and clutch purses in a range of finishes, from affordable woven straw and raffia to more luxurious embossed exotic leathers and haircalf. There are plenty of bold summery colors including yellow, orange, and green. Some natural and nude hues are available too, but with bright neon tassels and colored trims, I doubt they'll appeal to conservative girls! Prices start at $278 and top $695 for a snake-printed leather handbag.

    Blues by KyKy bags are now available in selected boutiques in Florida, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Pennsylvania, and the label's online store.

    Santi Chevron Crochet Pouchette | Colorful Sequin Covered Purse

    Santi Chevron PouchetteSanti takes a break from creating head-turning evening accessories with this Chevron Crochet Pouchette.

    There are certainly elements of the Santi we know and love here. The beads and sequins give it a dash of sparkle, but it's not as showy as many of the fashion house's designs. The chevron pattern makes this purse resemble something you might find in a Guatemalan market. The handiwork is every bit as delicate as you'd find abroad, and its colors just as vibrant.

    This Chevron Pouchette is very dainty though, so while its soft body will expand a little you shouldn't expect it to hold any more than the barest of essentials. It's a shame the chain strap has to clutter the tiny interior when it's not in use, but we'll be happy for its presence as the day wears on. That small space is a bit limiting for a day bag, but it's perfect for coffee with the girls and other brief outings.

    You'd probably find cheaper in that Guatemalan marketplace, but its quality help to justify its $190 price tag.

    This travel bag is definitely one for the girly girls. While it's also available in black and blue, it's this shocking pink hue that makes the strongest style statement. Personally I'm finding it hard to resist this candy colored polycarbonate finish, but I know such a sugary hue won't please everybody!

    No matter what color you pick you should be impressed by this spinner case's features. Its tough hard finish is surprisingly lightweight to help you avoid those dreaded baggage fees. The Bright Lites also put an end to cases that act like faulty shopping karts. The four spinner wheels rotate a full 360 degrees to make it easy to get from one end of the terminal to the other.

    Inside you'll find plenty of space for all your vacation needs, and a TSA approved lock to keep them safe. The interior has a zippered pocket and a divider pad to keep your cargo organized, and cross-straps to hold it tightly in place. It's a shame the divider isn't larger, as things tend to fall out the sides and become jumbled, but it's a great concept.

    Just make sure you handle your spinner case carefully, because once it's scuffed it loses a lot of its luster. At $400 you don't want it losing its charm too quickly!

    Diane von Furstenbergs Faceless Model Ad | Surreal New Spring/Summer Advertisement

    With so many fashion campaigns focusing on beautiful faces, it's interesting to see Diane von Furstenberg has gone in a completely different direction. The model in its spring/summer 2012 campaign features no face at all!

    Photographer Camilla Akrans realized Diane von Furstenberg's vision and created an ode to surrealist art.

    The ad reminds me a little of the new Proenza Schouler advertisement, where we saw Natasha Poly's head unceremoniously cropped. However the effect of having a mirror where the face should be is much more jarring.

    The ad seems to remove the stigma that you need to be a waif thin model with impossibly fine features to wear these clothes. By replacing her face with a mirror we can imagine our own face reflected there, and by extension ourselves in the advertisement.

    It's a clever concept but I worry that the missing face shifts focus away from the fashions. The red and white floral wrap dress the model wears is gorgeous, and a great complement to the oversized white clutch purse, but we barely notice them. Sometimes fashion house's can be too clever for their own good.

    Salvatore Ferragamo Ceyla Hobo | Sophisticated Woven Leather Bag with Wooden Handle

    Salvatore Ferragamo Ceyla HoboWith this Ceyla Hobo, Salvatore Ferragamo proves Bottega Veneta isn't the only fashion house with a way with weaves.

    It's been a long time since I've seen a woven finish as striking as this one. Salvatore Ferragamo has manipulated leather strips of various lengths to create the contemporary finish. It takes its cues from traditional weaves, but when we look at it closely there's much more texture and drama. That's also helped by the gentle color shifts in the brown leather. The various shades are subtle and complementary, and that ensures the finish stays sophisticated.

    I'm in two minds about the wooden handle. On one hand it's quirky and playful, but there are a few key negatives to consider. The studs make the wood appear a bit richer, but I don't think they gel with the Ceyla's high class bohemian vision. They also encourage us to shift focus when we should be focusing on the woven finish. And while it's ergonomically shaped and smoothed, wooden handles are never as forgiving as soft leathers or fabrics. Personally I don't think the look is worth sacrificing comfort.

    I also don't think we should make any compromises for $1890. With a different handle I'd be sorely tempted, but that hard handle gives me the willpower to resist!

    Laura Bailey Models for Radley | British Handbag Label’s Spring/Summer 2012 Advertisement

    Radley Laura Bailey AdEnglish model Laura Bailey has been named as the brand ambassador for British handbag label Radley's spring/summer 2012 advertising campaign.

    The commercials see Bailey relaxing on the beach at Camber Sands. Renowned photographer Angelo Pennetta and Radley's creative director and shoot stylist Kate Hillier have opted to keep the campaign feeling very natural, which I think is perfect for the season. And besides, a born beauty doesn't need any trickery to shine!

    Perhaps Bailey looks so relaxed because Radley allowed her to wear her own clothes during the shoot. How often does that happen? Apparently Hillier and Bailey decided the approach would best demonstrate how a bag can make any outfit shine. Even if that's a beat up old army jacket, a cozy cardigan, or a mismatched boho beach ensemble!

    Bailey said she wanted to work with Radley as it celebrates "creativity, quality and craftsmanship." She added that she's also passionate about supporting her country's companies and design talent.

    In the glossy world of fashion the natural look of this Radley campaign really stands out. While Bailey is impossibly beautiful, seeing her with minimal makeup and the sort of clothes I have in my own closet is very approachable. If she can rock these bags, surely we can too!

    Roxy Dusk Shoulder BagRoxy's come a long way since its early days as a surfwear specialist. The Dusk shoulder bag is a great example of the versatile and affordable accessories the label now offers.

    The Dusk isn't a pioneer by any means, but it's a lovely homage to bohemian style. Its drawstring closure might be a bit fiddly to manage, but I love the way it gathers in the top, creating a soft, casual silhouette. Its long braided tie is also ideal for the Dusk's hippie-chic image. The merlot color won't change the world but it's a fresh alternative to brown or burgundy. It's somewhere in between the two more traditional hues, yet it feels more unusual than either one.

    The Dusk's generous dimensions are perfect for holding most things we need, and probably a few extras besides. Such a slouchy shape is never easy to keep organized, but there's an array of interior pockets on hand to help us out. I also appreciate the long shoulder strap, which is perfect for grabbing as we're rushing out the door.

    The Dusk is made from the sort of vinyl that will never pass for real leather. It's too thin, and a little too shiny. But that compromise helps Roxy price this shoulder bag at just $44. It won't have the longevity of a leather bag, but perhaps when it falls apart you can afford an upgrade!

    This purse offers a brilliant take on traditional diamond quilting. Rather than neatly dividing the leather body into regular diamond shapes, the New Prismic's stitches create a futuristic faceted finish, something like the surface of a precious gemstone.

    Roger Vivier allows the stitching to shine by keeping the rest of the New Prismic's styling simple. The basic flap-over design is something we've all seen many times before, but that faceted finish and the bold green color help us appreciate it through new eyes. The gleaming gold chain shoulder strap and logo are a gorgeous complement to that rich emerald hue.

    The New Prismic's medium dimensions make it a very versatile creature, perfect for casual lunches or hitting the town. It doesn't take a lot to keep a space this size organized, but Roger Vivier isn't taking any chances. The trio of open pouches and generous zippered pocket exceed our expectations.

    Frankly I can't fault this purse, which is exactly what I need if I'm ever going to spend $3330 on a bag. That's an awful lot of money, but there are worse things to indulge in!

    Mulberry Launches Travel Bags | Alexa Style Day & Camera Accessories

    Mulberry Travel Day Bag

    In the tradition of its Alexa Bag comes Mulberry's Travel Bag range, the latest addition to its accessories line.

    Some media outlets have dubbed the newest design the Alexa's "love child," and it's not hard to see why. Its satchel shape, braided leather handle, and double-buckle fastening are all familiar. However the metal tipped corners and chic metal nameplate evoke vintage steamer trunks from the golden age of travel.

    The design is available as a large Travel Day Bag for everyday use and a smaller Travel Camera Bag. Each one is available in a range of finishes. The most affordable Day Bag will set you back £995, or roughly $1575 US, while the most expensive tops £2250, or around $3565. If that's a bit rich for your blood consider the Travel Camera Bag which is between £795 and £895, the equivalent of $1260 to $1418 US.

    It's not even on retail shelves yet but it's already garnered a few celebrity fans. Hayley Atwell, Juno Temple, and Blake Lively have all been spotted toting the Travel Day Bag. The rest of us will have to wait until February 15 to own one.
